You can sell one, but there is usually less to sell. With no premises to hand over, a buyer is paying for your clients, your name and your bookings, and those only transfer if clients are willing to follow a new person.
Home and mobile businesses are very personal. Clients book you, not a shop, so when you leave many will look elsewhere. That is why these businesses often sell for a modest sum, or are passed to a colleague who already knows the clients.
What makes one saleable
- A booking system with a real client list, visit history and contact permissions.
- A trading name, website, reviews and social accounts that can be handed over.
- A handover period long enough to introduce the buyer to your regulars.
- Equipment such as a couch, a nail station or a van fitted out for the work.
Who buys them
Usually a therapist or stylist in the same area who wants your clients, or an existing salon looking to add to its book. Selling to someone your clients already know tends to keep the most of them.
